Welcome to 'is this love'!

It has now been over a year since I started my Hello! Project blog 'THE Blogpower!!!'. Today I take the next step a create 'is this love', a blog geared towards more general J-pop loving. This blog should give you, the reader, more of an insight into my musical interests and I am looking forward to seeing how this will allow me to expand my horizons. It's not all about me though. It is about the J-pop loving community as a whole. I love reading other writer's blogs and think that it would be great to see more blogs on the subject of Japanese music, whether they are focusing on a niche or on a broader subject matter. 'THE Blogpower!' has been, and is still being, great fun and a good experience all round. Seeing even more fans take the step into the world of blogging would be amazing for everyone.

You may be curious as to why this new blog is titled 'is this love'. This is, once again, a tribute to my roots in Hello! Project. It is, in fact, the English meaning of 'Koi Kana', the title of former Morning Musume member Kusumi Koharu's first solo single. This silly, bouncy pop song was my first encounter with Japanese pop. While it is far from a musical masterpiece, the song holds a special place in my heart and so seemed a natural choice when I was thinking of possible titles.

My current choice for the header is Hamasaki Ayumi. While I sometimes criticise the woman, she, for me, represents a versatility that I have come to love about Japanese mainstream music.

小春ちゃん、ありがとう
I hope you will enjoy this new foray into the world of J-pop blogging!

Kath of 'THE Blogpower!!!' and now 'is this love'.
